Lebanon unveiled the world’s biggest wine glass measuring 2.4m*1.65m displayed at a wine festival in Beirut where the Guinness World Records adjudicator declared it to be the world’s biggest, beating the previous record of Portugal for 12 years.
Organisers of the festival being held at the Hippodrome in Beirut poured around 100 bottles of Lebanese wines of all colours-reds, whites and Rosé, sponsored by various wineries across the nation, and the glass made from plexiglass, was not even quarter full. Organisers said winemakers from across the country had contributed their produce as part of a campaign to promote Lebanese wine, half of which is exported.
"This glass brings together all the wine producers in Lebanon," said Nedar Farah, the creator of the wineglass on Friday at the unveiling.
The previous record was created in Portugal in 1998 when the glass measuring 1.51 m high and 1.46 m at the widest point was accepted as the world’s biggest wine glass.
